Job Responsibilities
Oxholmsgatan will be a newly opened facility starting in August, centrally located at Torslanda Torg.
We are now looking for someone who wants to help shape the operation together with us to provide the best possible support to the young people living here.
Oxholmsgatan focuses on autism spectrum disorders, intellectual disabilities, and/or other neuropsychiatric diagnoses. The residence accommodates children or young people who need a smaller context with a calm environment to function well. Your main task as a support assistant is to offer individualized pedagogical support that contributes to a meaningful, independent, and developing life in accordance with LSS.
You will provide the child with individually tailored support in daily activities; everything from personal care and home life to accompanying them on activities and outings. Communication and cognitive support are areas we actively work with, and we consistently use proven pedagogical methods such as clear pedagogical approaches, low-arousal responses, and alternative and augmentative communication to create understanding and predictability. Working in a low-arousal manner means that we take responsibility for the situation by evaluating what happened and what may have led to the incident, thereby collaboratively finding solutions moving forward. We want the residents of Oxholmsgatan to experience a sense of success in every interaction with us.
Under the leadership of the unit manager and two support pedagogues, along with colleagues and other individuals in the child's network, you will help develop methods, routines, and structures for the work surrounding the residents to provide each individual with the best conditions for participation. At Oxholmsgatan, you will be part of a team with both support assistants and support pedagogues, where you will work together in good collaboration and open communication to provide each individual with the best possible support.
You will work days, evenings, and weekends according to a schedule.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with a degree from the Health and Care program, support assistant training, or the Child and Leisure program with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also fulfilled if you have a post-secondary specialization in the disability field that includes at least 200 YH credits, 120 higher education credits, or a combination thereof corresponding to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education that the employer assesses as equivalent.
It is a requirement that you have prior experience working with clear pedagogical approaches, LAB (low-arousal responses), and various forms of AAC (alternative and augmentative communication). You also need to have previous experience working with challenging behavior. You need to have basic IT skills, and it is also important that you have good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing. If you do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, you may be offered to take a language test through the test user Educateit.
It is an advantage if you have a B driver's license and previous experience working with children with disabilities.
We are looking for someone who is friendly and helpful to others even in stressful situations. You show respect for everyone you meet at work. You are inviting and positive. You work to ensure that the student/client/user gets what they need. We also see that you bring new ideas and perspectives to the job and to solve problems. You are curious and encourage dialogue and questions, and you can see more than one possible solution. Your creativity can be put into practice and lead to results.
At the same time, you are calm and secure in pressured and difficult situations. You can balance the demands placed on you and can make well-founded decisions despite time pressure.
